I have learnt so many new things in Media Studies! This lesson, we had learnt about the different stereotypes the media give to teenagers that influence people to judge us. They convey us in negative and positive ways such as lazy, stuck up, rebellious and immature, but also as confident, adventurous, loyal and outgoing individuals. I guess the media is right sometimes.

Prelim Task: Evaluation

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? In this project, I have had to look at different fashion magazine like Teen Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and many other magazines. My magazine definitely challenges the conventions of a fashion magazine due to the model I have decided to use. The model I have used is wearing a hijab which automatically subverts the conventions of the magazine because it is not common for a magazine to use women wearing a religious or traditional piece of clothing such as a hijab. Prelim Task: Typography

During my market research, I have noticed that most of the fashion magazines I came across have a very simple font for their title. There is also not too many colours clashing with the masthead.The masthead of the magazines are usually bold, in serif font and usually tend to use the colours pink or black in them. Occasionally, they would use red white and blue also to make the masthead stand out more.
