I have learnt so many new things in Media Studies! This lesson, we had learnt about the different stereotypes the media give to teenagers that influence people to judge us. They convey us in negative and positive ways such as lazy, stuck up, rebellious and immature, but also as confident, adventurous, loyal and outgoing individuals. I guess the media is right sometimes.
Prelim Task: Evaluation
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? In this project, I have had to look at different fashion magazine like Teen Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and many other magazines. My magazine definitely challenges the conventions of a fashion magazine due to the model I have decided to use. The model I have used is wearing a hijab which automatically subverts the conventions of the magazine because it is not common for a magazine to use women wearing a religious or traditional piece of clothing such as a hijab. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluating stages? In this project, I have used a wide range of old and new media technologies to produce the final product.
