Prelim Task: Evaluation
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real media products?
In this project, I have had to look at different fashion magazine
like Teen Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and many other magazines. My magazine definitely
challenges the conventions of a fashion magazine due to the model I have
decided to use. The model I have used is wearing a hijab which automatically
subverts the conventions of the magazine because it is not common for a
magazine to use women wearing a religious or traditional piece of clothing such
as a hijab.
How did you use new media technologies in the construction and
research, planning and evaluating stages?
In this project, I have used a wide range of old and new media
technologies to produce the final product. I used a Nikon camera to take a
picture of my shot list, flat plan as well as taking a practice and final shot
of my final model. I also used Adobe Photoshop to play with the different tools
such as the blending options, changing fonts, changing the lighting of the
picture and by enlarging the main picture I have used in my product.
What will you look to improve on for your NEA?
When doing my NEA, I am looking to improve on the layout of my
product as well as using a wider variety of shots and skills such as the dodge
tool which I never got round to use due to the fact that I felt like I did not
need to edit the picture of the model as much as I thought that I would have. I
am also looking to improve my camerawork because I believe that there is enough
room for improvement and I can also use a different and unique pose for my
cover. I will take all of these factors into consideration next year.
What have you learned about yourself from this process?
During this whole project, I have learnt that
I
can work independently with no distractions and get on with what I have to do.
I have also realised that I can also help others with their products by
suggesting good and relevant feedback to allow them to improve their final product.
